The artist formerly known as Deco Diva Debi submitted her Martha Stewart inspired tablescape. Here's her party story:
I was (rather frantically) searching for a creative idea for a very fast tablescape for Easter dinner last year. It wasn't supposed to be at my house, but last-minute plans changed and I was trying to make it special with very little advance notice. Number one consideration for the decor was that my sixteen-month old grandson would be 'at table' with us, so things had to be simple and baby proof!
The Inspiration

Debi Ward Kennedy's Version
Simple clear glass vases (that I bought in 2001 for my first daughter's wedding, and have used fifteen thousand times since) with vintage green velvet ribbon and snowy daffodils fresh from the Skagit Valley. Clear votive cups & tealights (IKEA). The china is Noritake's 'Maureen' pattern, with white swirls on minty green borders...it's so 'Brocade Home' in style that you'd never know it was produced in 1966!
White glossy gift wrapping paper I taped to the table. No corners or hanging parts to tempt little man into pulling everything down a la' a magic trick!
The 'placemats' I created by using some green Sharpie markers and doodling some chargers & silverware outlines directly onto the wrapping paper. 'Doodling' is the operative word here - it's not perfect, but I did ten place settings in about fifteen minutes!
Thank you Debi for sharing your party!

Where is the original link to Martha's place mats?
Great idea with the doodles! Very original and yet fun! Although it takes time, the place setting with the name so people know where they sit is awesome! It's also very personal as far as this is their spot! I love it!
